For this blog I interviewed Rhys, a diehard Buffalo Bills fan who attended a game at the Atlanta Falcons stadium with his family. He grew up in Atlanta, so going to the games was not something that he was unfamilar with, however he said that it did feel different representing his Bills this time. He said "Our seats were really close to the field, like third row. It was different being there and hearing all of the boos when the Bills came out, but I actually liked it. It got me fired up." One of my favorite parts about getting stories about away games is hearing what the crowd was like, or how they were treated. Were they more friendly then you were expecting? Were they so hostile that you hope you never wear the wrong jersey again? He said "I was getting chirped a little bit. But Falcons fans are actually pretty nice. They are pretty welcoming people. The people at the Bills games are all drunk idiots and they just want to fight you." Although that may sound like a bad thing, the way he was describing it it seems like more of a point of pride as a Bills fan, rather than something to be ashamed of. For context, Rhys is a Bills fan because his dad grew up right next to the Bills stadium, with tailgaiting and cold weather being a huge part of his childhood. Rhys is a fan of a lot of different sports and has been attending various sports games his whole life. When asked how the away game compared, he said "The best game I have ever been to was a Bills Vikings game that I went to. It was dumping snow and the whole stadium was jumping. Other than that, I would say the time I went to the x games." Rhys is also a college student, and has attended his fair share of college games as well. The biggest difference he noticed was the crowd. "At NFL games, there is a lot more people and the fans still want to win, but I don't know, it feels like the college games the crowd still wants it more. The band helps too. I think if I had went to an away game at a college game, I would have noticed a bigger difference in how I was treated." He ended the interview by saying that he would like to go to more away games, and that he had a good time representing his team in enemy territory.
